Built in 1871, St. Paul Catholic church holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the Bayou Goula area and its adjacent River Road communities. It is cherished for its historical significance, its simplistic beauty, and for its role in the early development of the parish. After hurricane damage in 2008, the church has made a comeback thanks to the Friends of St. Paul Church Organization.
