Mound House, so named because it was built on an Indian burial mound was constructed in 1840 by Austin Woolfolk. It’s located on Bayou Grosse Tete, about three miles from Maringouin. Renovated in 1955, by Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Schwing. It is a one and a half story frame house, which sits among moss-draped oak trees and features modified greek key design on doors and windows. *The house is privately owned, and is not open to the public. It can be viewed from the road.
